Usually I feed him his food right from the cupboard, but now he’s starting on meats and I think it’d be a good idea to give them to him warm, since I always eat meat hot.

How to Prepare Safe Baby Meals

Posted by: Baby Food Grinder  /  Category: baby food grinder

Recently a Californian based company called Plum Organics recalled one of their baby food pouch products due to possible bacterial contamination that could cause botulism.  It’s news like this that really emphasises how careful we have to be with baby food.  It’s not surprising that more and more people are making their own baby food at home, to be sure of what goes into each meal.

Cooking at home from fresh ingredients is certainly a healthy and fun way to provide for your baby, but you still have to make sure that your ingredients are fresh and free from any contaminants that could be harmful or impair the taste.

Here are some tips for making sure that your baby meals are safe :-

  • Only buy ingredient quantities that you need for your immediate cooking, as unused food could start to spoil and cause upset tummies.
  • Make sure fruit and vegetables are scrubbed thoroughly, and keep your baby food grinder nice and clean after use so that next time it is ready to go straight out of the cupboard.
  • Always refrigerate left overs and make sure you don’t keep them too long, as the risk of making baby ill just isn’t worth it.

Happy cooking!

Is it safe to warm up baby food in the microwave?

Posted by: Baby Food Grinder  /  Category: baby food questions, baby food warmer

I’ve been warming baby food in the microwave and been told its bad, does anyone know the truth of this please? And I’m sure microwaved food continues to cook/heat even after the microwave has finished, which is why it is best to leave it stand for 1 minute before ‘serving’.
