Question by Natosha Shaw: How much cereal or baby food should my six month old baby be eating?
I just recently got my baby to start eating cereal. She used to keep spitting it out. She still will not eat baby food. I’m worried that she is too dependant on formula. How do I correct this and how do I ensure she is getting enough food and nutrition? How much baby food and cereal should she be eating at six months of age? Any advice is appreciated.

I am going to have to say I would not recommend any cereal. It causes severe gas and constipation in babies, and has little to no nutritional value. Babies can survive and thrive on breast milk and/or formula for a year, and even more than a year. So it’s not a bad thing that she’s dependent on the formula. But at six months, i would start to try to introduce regular people food that you could mush with a food processor.

My baby is seven months old and she has been eating just the vegetable baby foods and her formula. She has quite a few bottles a day, I don’t know exactly how much, but she only eats one jar of her baby food, is that enough? If not, how much is recommended? And which meats are good starting ones?

My daughter is 7 months old, and I want to start giving her more food, either jar or homemade and start cutting down her formula consumption. How much do I cut the formula down to and how much food do I give her?
