Make your own spaghetti or mostacholi and then poor it into one of those big metal pans and then put motzarella cheese on top and then bake it. Voila you have baked mostacholi for pennies per person. you can also buy frozen chicken wings and make them yourself and put them in an aluminum pan. you can also buy roast beef and bread for hot roast beef sandwiches. Those walmart frozen pizzas are good too. just cut um up and put um on a pretty platter.

Great comments, thanks everyone.

As with many things in life, a balance is generally the way to go. Making your own baby food is generally a good thing to do, but time isn't on your side - sometimes you just need to grab a jar and go.

Having said that, the last time my boy had a jar (pureed cottage pie!) it made him sick! So that discouraged us from buying more jars.

The good thing is that is does get easier, as once they are over one year, then the range of food choices is much wider.

Take care,
- Stewart

Hi, I'm with CityPixie but I totally get RP - I found weaning so stress and being blown away by the jarred food do's and don'ts. Agree making babyfood could be messy, and of course the jars do carry a convenience factor. This is by no means a 'bigging-up' of The Wean Machine but I did invent it because I was so frustrated and stressed out by what to do! I have a pragmatic approach to parenting and that includes babyfood. I hope it helps. I think we all work hard, we all care but all have to be realistic and what is more important to one family is different to another.

Pineapple - I couldn't get enough of it. Fresh was best but, I also had cans in reserve! It wasn't until much later, I found out that pineapple is a natural antacid. Yay to mothernature. Happy days.

I have 4 kids and with each one I craved something different. With the 1st one I wanted watermelon so bad. My husband bought a couple at a time so he wouldn't have to go out in the middle of the night. With my second child I craved ice cream. My husband and I would always get the kind on sale. Maybe 4 cartoons of it. lol. With my 3rd child I craved mac and cheese. I could have ate it 5 times a week if my husband would let me! And with my 4 child I craved doughnuts. Yum. We had so many boxes in my house. The only problem was that my other children were getting older and they liked them to!
