Babies First Food Program

Catherine McCord has just released a new video over at weelicious.com, offering some introductory tips on how to start feeding food to your baby.  The video covers topics such as what food to start with, how to blend the food until it’s smooth enough, and what to do with baby rice.  There’s also a bit about getting babies used to cutlery – it’s never too early to get your little one familiar with the feel of a spoon.

All in all, a pretty useful video.  Check it out here.

If you like what you see with the puree demonstration, then visit our baby food grinder comparison page to get some great info on available grinders.

Guilty Secrets and Dirty Dummies

Posted by: Baby Food Grinder  /  Category: baby food grinder

A bunch of dummiesWhen starting out as a parent, there are so many rules to remember that you can sometimes be forgiven if you don’t quite follow them to the letter. Those little short cuts that won’t hurt every once in a while. Of course I’m not admitting anything…

Over at Cafe Mom they have a New Mom Secrets section, where moms can post anonymously and fess up their small misdemeanors. This week the topic is related to dummies (pacifiers?) but have a look at the archive of past confessions – some are fairly mild but others are real hum-dingers!

Check out the full post to see if you’re guilty of any…

Enhanced product comparison – part 1

Posted by: Baby Food Grinder  /  Category: baby food coupons, baby food grinder, baby food mill, baby food processor, baby food warmer

Compare different baby food grindersWe’ve had some great feedback about our product comparison page, and are now working on some useful new features. Two changes are already live! The first change is a detailed description of each item, to make selection a little easier. We’ve also changed the format so that items are listed in rows instead of columns, which means we can quickly add new items – we’ll just pop a new row on the bottom.

Please continue to provide feedback – the comparison page is a tool aimed at helping our visitors, so it needs to give you the features you want.

Cheers,
- Stewart

Fall seasonal vegetables – get them while they’re good!

Posted by: Baby Food Grinder  /  Category: baby food grinder

A collage of veggies!

We’re rapidly approaching the end of fall, but there are still some great vegetables that are in season: carrot, pumpkin, sweet potato and turnip.  All of these veggies make great meals for baby, and are full of essential nutrients and fiber. Cook by steam, boil or bake. Then mash or puree them to the desired consistency.  Add some of the water from cooking to thin the puree if necessary.  No need to add any seasoning – these veggies have a lovely flavor all on their own.  You could even mix and match, perhaps blend some sweet potato with pumpkin, just to bring baby a little variety.

It was honestly a tough choice trying to decide which fruit or vegetable we would choose for Chloe’s first food. Butternut squash is in season and all over the farmer’s market, so that’s what we chose. This video is the first bite she ever took, so it’s extra special that we captured it! Butternut squash puree is delicious, highly nutritious and perfect for a babies first bite of food.

pumpkin-milkshakes.jpg

No matter how much you try to impose moderation in your home, when it comes to Halloween and kids — it’s all about the sugar. You can hope for the best that your neighbors will be pushing dried fruit over M&M’s, but if you’re a realist you’ll accept the fact that chocolate and candy will be the treats of choice and that this is one day of the year that is very likely out of your control.

Bring something healthy and fun into the mix – check out this recipe for pumpkin milkshakes over at Weelicious – fantastic.
