Ah! As a mommy and a nanny, I can't imagine putting artificial flavoring in a baby's food! If she can't honor your wishes for your baby, she should be fired. Lots of people left you good advice here, so all I'll add is that there's a great book called "Super Baby Food" that goes into detail about what kind of foods babies need each month of their development. I'll be using it when my daughter's old enough to eat solids.

Well first off you are paying the babysitter just like you pay for other services you have every right to say how you feel and tell her that you dont appreciate her doing that...now as for other things add some cinnamon or any type of gerber fruit to your baby's cereal....every baby has their ups and downs about what they eat...cheerios are great they teach them excellent hand eye cordination...I have had eight kids and all of them loved cheerios...just stay away from honey, peanut butter, shellfish, and strawberries until they turn one and for the peanut butter until they are two....gerber now makes great things for them to use with their hands and that are small and they dissolve fast less of a chocking hazard...if she has teeth then that's great but my kids didnt have teeth for awhile good luck

Tell her not to give the baby anything that you have not approved omg i would go absolutley mad if anyone gave my little girl anything that i hadnt approved - just continue to give your baby things that are healthy for her maybe try adding fresh fruit to breakfast porridge etc ( you probably already know this )

either get rid of the babysitter or foods that dissolve good in the baby's mouth. ex: mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and gerber has this new cereal for 6 months and older and it dissolves on their tongue

If she isn't listening to your wishes on the added flavouring, what else is she disregarding?

Frankly, unless the sitter is watching your child for free, I would first ask her directly to stop and explain why, then if she does it again, find another sitter. You are the mother.

Gently explain to him/her that it's your daughter and you don't want her to have artificial flavour, it's very bad for her.

At 8 months old, all three of my kids were eating table foods, with the exception of honey. They even had milk, though it was watered down 1 ounce to 3 ounces of water. The doctor said that it was fine and the kids thrived.

Find a new babysitter. Your childs health is at risk here. Artifical flavors on a daily basis will make your child finickie about real food and you said this has already happened.
You need to worry. If the babysitter can't go along with your rules on food and feeding, what else will she do that you don't agree with?
Your baby's taste buds are being set up for a future of bad habits if it takes artifical flavors to feed her. I believe the babysitter does this to get the baby to eat and eat faster, It is for her own benefite and not good for the baby.
