What food can I give my 16 month old after a stomach flu?
Posted by: Baby Food Grinder / Category: baby food questionsMy son was throwing up food from Friday night and I put him on fluids alone until around 8 Sunday night. He had some rice cereal and banana for dinner yesterday, breakfast and lunch today. What else can I give him after a stomach flu? Doctor has said no to dairy. Yoghurts are fine? How about some chicken noodle?

Chicken noodle is okay, if doc said no dairy then yogurt is out of the question.

Yogurts are good because they have the active cultures which will help his stomach get better. Soups are good too. Especially things like tomato soup or one that you can put in a sippy cup and let him sip on all day. You can blend the chicken noodle soup even. Broths are good.
Juice/water/pedialite mixed together for hydration.
Slowly give him other foods – toast, steamed veggies, etc. that are easy on the stomach until he is eating normally again.

You could try some toast or dry cereal. Applesauce would probably be ok. With the chicken noodle soup, I would give him more noodles and less broth.

Rice, applesauce, toast, oatmeal (no milk) and bland fruits like peaches and pears are all good choices. My kids get a nasty stomache flu like once a year.
