Any food ideas that I can pack for my 14 month daughter to eat at daycare?

Posted by: Baby Food Grinder  /  Category: baby food questions

My daughter doesn’t want to eat the jars of baby food anymore. What are some lunch ideas I can pack so she can take to her daycare, other than the Gerber Graduates microwavable lunches, soups, etc? The daycare has requested that I bring food for her to eat. I need good, healthy lunch ideas. Not just snack ideas, please.

i think you arent supposed to send food to daycare unless its medically needed. trust me she wont starve, eventually she will get over whatever her problem is and eat whats provided

The Have alot of different finger foods that you can get. I know my daughter like the bitter biscuits that Gerber makes.

This is just a snack idea but there are these wonderful things called “star puffs” that Gerber makes I believe. They are puffy flavored snacks that dissolve in a child’s mouth, and they would be very healthy for your 14-month-old. They have flavors such as sweet potato, banana…etc… :)

If you daughter is able to feed herself, you can use canned or fresh cooked green beans or other “hand-sized” veggies that she likes, crackers, cheese, cut up pieces of lunch meat (turkey, ham, Bologna),sliced or quartered boiled eggs, the single serve applesauce or fruit cups. There is a lot of choices, try some of the ideas at home and see what she can handle or what she likes.

it really depends on what she likes to eat, honestly. for my son, i pack apple pieces, Graham crackers, and small pieces of chicken (pre cooked, of course). does she eat regular food well? if so, try some of that.

Finger sandwiches made of the things she likes to eat, I mean sandwich wise like peanut butter and jelly or homemade chicken salad.

Applesauce, puddings, tabioca. Its had to come up with things if you don’t know whether the child can chew solid food. If they can, then try cookies or crackers, vegetable stics or just plain raw vegetables, meat cut in bit sized peices, etc. You get the idea…

If she can have PB&J those are good. I use cookie cutters and make the sandwiches into shapes.
    Pasta w/sauce.
    Fruit cups.
    Chopped veggies.
    Crackers w/cheese
    Gold Fish
    String Cheese
    Yogurt
    Baggie of cereal
    Soup vegtable or noddle

Many people made great suggestions (except no peanut butter yet). Tupperware sells a great divided dish with 3 compartments. Chop up bits of leftovers and easy foods mentioned previously and let her show them what she likes. The divided dish won’t keep liquids separate so keep that in mind when packing. Also, Baby Bjorn makes an awesome “trough” like bib. It is made of plastic and catches much of what kids drop as they are trying to find their mouths. It’s kind of like a second chance! I put them in the dishwasher. Good luck!
