Taking out homemade baby food in the heat?
Posted by: Baby Food Grinder / Category: baby food questionsI make my own baby food, and freeze it. I get out his tea for the next day the day before and leave it to defrost in the fridge for 24 hours.
How can I take it out with me in the heat without it going funny? I dont really have facilities at the other end to warm it in.
What could I do? Or what do you do?

A cooler bag… you can get them in all sizes and if used correctly will keep whatever is put inside at the same temperature it was when in was placed in the bag for several hours in any weather.

I have never froze my sons food but before we go out i make sure he is full, then while on the road i give him his formula. If he gets fussy i have snacks for him.

I always just took things like avocados and bananas that are easy to mash and won’t go bad if they are left out. It even works once they are eating finger foods because they are easy to cut and let them self feed, but still nice and mushy.

use a small cooler or an insulated lunch bag with a freezer yet. Or you could also just take the food out of the freezer just before you leave home and let it defrost on the road. If we are only talking a few hours this will be fine, because it will take a while to melt. Most babies don’t mind if it is cold when eating, though you can try putting the food in a closed container and runnign the the container under hot water to heat it if you really want to.

This is what I do:
Before we go out I heat up the food until its piping hot, which you HAVE to do after you defrost baby food. Then I put it in a container a bit like a thermos flask but one for food, its quite big but I just throw it under the buggy, then when its time to eat its still warm.
Hope this helps
