How much baby food should my seven month old be eating everyday?
Posted by: Baby Food Grinder / Category: baby food questionsMy baby is seven months old and she has been eating just the vegetable baby foods and her formula. She has quite a few bottles a day, I don’t know exactly how much, but she only eats one jar of her baby food, is that enough? If not, how much is recommended? And which meats are good starting ones?

She could be having baby food at every meal if you wanted, it’s up to you.
You’ll still need to give her formula, just not as much. It depends on how much baby food she is having. Watch for her cues. If she is still hungry after a jar of baby food, then you’ll know that she needs formula.

Up until a year formula or breastmilk is where they get the bulk of their nutritional needs met. At this point solid foods are more for practice and exposure. If that’s all she is interested in then I wouldn’t push it. If she’s interested in trying more then work with that.

My 6 month old was strictly boob until about 2 weeks ago. Now he gets one veggie a day at lunch and boob the rest of the day with cereal at night. I have learned giving him food closer to bed keeps him bothered more and he doesn’t sleep as long. Breast milk breaks down so I give the “food” during the day. As long as they aren’t losing weight then like the other post said, eating right now is basically practice.

That’s fine. Formula/breastmilk needs to be their main source of nutrition until they are a year old. No solids have the right vitamins/minerals that a baby needs at this age, so solids are just for practice and trying new tastes and textures. They shouldn’t be making up any significant part of her diet until she’s a year old.
So your baby is just fine. Any meat you want to start with is fine (but no fish until a year old). You can grind some up yourself or buy it in jars. My baby’s first meat was turkey…on Easter, I think she was 7 or 8 months old.
