Depression linked to processed food
Posted by: Baby Food Grinder / Category: baby food productsRecent research suggests that eating a diet high in processed food increases the risk of depression.
Should we be concerned about processed baby food also?
Do you think there is a link between depression and a persons diet?

It just seems that so many people are depressed in our country that it’s an epidemic. And we also eat more processed foods and refined sugars than any other country. Do you think there is a link between the two?

yes, i have even experienced this myself. i used to eat fried food everyday and i would never eat salads or anything healthy at all. but i started to eat better and exercise and it really boosted my energy and self confidence. i think there is a big link between the two!

I don’t think your diet causes you to be depressed. I think it is the other way around: depressed people eat more… ( also if they are smokers, smoke more, drink more, gamble more… whatever). i definitely go for food – preferably chocolate – when I am feeling down.

As a mental health professional and a vegetarian, I believe there is a definite link between diet and many physical and emotional problems. Many foods directly effect the neuro-transmitters in the brain. Dr. Daniel Amen, in his books and on his website: BrainPlace.com, lists the connection between foods and the way they help different emotional conditions in the brain. Check it out.

Yes, the foods we eat today are nothing like the foods our grandparents ate. Farm fresh, just isn’t any more. I’ve found over the years that if I stay away from sugary and commercially processed foods, ingredients that we can’t grow ourselves that my depression eases and I’ve even had moments when I’ve strictly adhered to certain diets that I’ve been able to stop my medications. The problem has always been that the majority of our foods now aren’t natural and it is nearly impossible to avoid a chemical trigger.

100% YES. I suffered for years then changed my diet in a big way. I no longer suffer and feel better in many other ways too. If only the medical profession would take this on board instead of dishing out medication.
