As a first time mom, I didn’t know where to begin when it came time to feed my baby “real food.” Food for Tots was exactly what I needed. The book contains not only easy, yummy and creative recipes, but also, and just as helpful, it contains sections about when your child is ready for certin foods, Food Group Guidelines by age and what to do about Picky Eaters. As for the recipes, try the Zucchini Quesadillas-they are one of our favorites that the whole familiy loves!

Food for Tots is a charming, information-packed resource that will help parents of toddlers find a wide variety of appealing and healthy foods. I especially enjoyed the “tot tips” that answered questions a parent might have as she reads the recipes and commentary. This useful book also includes important nutrition information, advice about common feeding problems and information about food allergies.

This book will be a wonderful tool for any mother in the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children Supplementary Nutrition) Program. Professionals working with WIC moms can also use the many recipes, charts, and tips as handouts or supplementary material. The information presented includes a smorgasbord of recipes as well as more detailed content on health and nutrition, allowing the reader to take as much as he/she pleases. The organized format and simple vocabulary make the book a very easy read. An index of topics is included at the beginning of each section to allow for easy navigation through the book. In addition to providing essential nutrition facts, this book goes the extra mile to make nutrition fun by including a section on holidays & birthdays and food for play.
